Version 1.04: More Changes, More Difficulty

All right, version 1.04 is up! This one is a bit beefier than other versions, so let's talk about it.

As always, there's nothing too major added here, but there are a few things meant to ease difficulty in places, sharpen it in others, and make for a more balanced game experience. I'm going to miss a lot of the changes, since most were minor, but here's the rough tl;dr:

  • Typos and verbiage fixed more thoroughly through Chapter 16. A lot of these were things I missed without having a fresh set of eyes to catch them; I'm used to how I think I wrote them, not how they were actually written.
  • Balance changes aplenty. Several characters saw their stats buffed to fix underperformance (Arlene the bandit, Matthias the thief, Nickolas the armor knight, and Robert the mage), while other outliers had their stats tweaked to rein in their performance (Liana and Errol the priests, Basch the sword fighter).
  • A new personal weapon was added for Robert (mage).
  • An oversight that caused the Warrior (promoted bandit class) to have lower caps than intended was addressed; its final caps should be more in-line with the other endgame classes.
  • Some weapons had parameters adjusted to mitigate their performance; Blizzard, Diamond Dust, and Hrimfaxi all had their stats adjusted to make them less annoying to play against.
  • Enemy stats were lowered in some chapters to smooth out difficulty.
  • And the big new addition: my first attempt at Hard Mode.

While it's still an early pass, Hard Mode features lowered experience gains and higher enemy stats. Future updates should hopefully expand on ts strengths and make for a robust, yet fair, challenge.

As always, thank you for playing! Stay tuned for future updates, and please keep sharing your feedback.
